Houston Auto Market Hits Record Highs in Q1-2025

The Houston auto industry surged into 2025 with record-breaking momentum. Total vehicle sales reached an all-time high of 108,095 units, marking a significant increase over both Q4-2024 and Q1-2024. Retail sales also set a new record at 91,224 units, underscoring strong consumer demand, particularly for trucks and SUVs.

The Retail Truck/SUV segment dominated, posting a record 74,674 units sold—up more than 20% from the same period last year. Meanwhile, fleet sales climbed to 14.7% of the market, the highest level since 2020, signaling growing confidence from commercial buyers.

The average retail sales price rose to $52,053, near its all-time high, while electric vehicles made major strides, doubling their market share year-over-year to 6.2%. Top-performing EV manufacturers continue to shape the evolving market landscape in Houston.

Model trends stayed consistent, with the Ford F-150 leading the pack, while the Toyota RAV4 remained Houston’s favorite SUV for the seventh straight year. Toyota maintained its spot as the region’s top manufacturer, joined by GM, Ford, and Honda as market leaders.

With the 12-month rolling sales total reaching a new peak of 382,781 units in March, all signs point to continued growth for Houston’s dynamic automotive market.
