November 16, 2020“It Looks Like it’s Baked Right into the Vehicle.”
When it comes to our all-new all-black X-Mat floor liner, we hear this often. And not just from our customers, but from the industry.
And it all started over a year ago with Houston-area parts guys.
As I set out to personally discover how our brand and products were perceived in today’s marketplace, it was the parts guys who updated me on trends g and why a simple overlay mat (black, clear, or otherwise) was becoming outdated.
Long story short – with some industry collaboration and brainstorming, sourcing make-specific safety-lock grommets, and R&D back at the ranch, we developed a true replacement mat compliant with all makes and models (over 26,000 patterns). One that’s extremely durable against heel dents and holes on the driver’s side, more than even the OEM black liners. Add to that, a better price point than the competition, and the X-Mat performs as good as it looks.
And speaking of looks…
I think we can all agree just how evolved design has become with the interiors of today’s sedans, SUVs and even pickup trucks. Premium materials like woods, leather, textures, custom stitching, even carbon fiber are no longer reserved for the premium models.
We know the growing demographic of today’s car buyer – and it’s not just female-driven. The younger generations are simply more design-driven. Less AutoZone and more build-your-own.
And industry studies are showing that the over-designed 3-D molded tray fad is fading. They’re saying what we’re saying… today’s car interiors deserve better.
How do you market an accessory that doesn’t scream “I’m an accessory!”?
With select dealerships in Texas and California putting them in play, we’ve learned a lot during this “beta-launch” phase, and have created some very compelling pre-load programs along the way – not just for new cars, but for certified-pre-owns (including all other brands on the pre-owned lot). It seems that customers really embrace the X-Mat when they see it in the car (i.e., “baked right in”).
Bottom line: The X-Mat is back, it’s still made right here in Houston, and thanks to our Houston-area parts professionals, it’s better than ever.
